For our Latin America team, reporting to the LATAM Storage Delivery & Service Business Manager, we are currently searching for a:
Title: HSE Expert for Service and Commissioning of BESS systems
Department: Service
Main Responsibilities:
- Performing functional verifications to comply with electrical standards and engineering specifications.
- Support and actively collaborate during the commissioning of the BESS systems (including PCS and Battery Systems).
- Monitoring key system parameters (voltage, current, temperature, SOC/SOH, alarms, etc.) and verify the operational efficiency of the BESS system. optimizing performance as described on the project KPIs.
- Diagnosing and resolving technical problems in the field, summarizing findings and reporting to the Quality Department to support root cause analysis and implementing solutions accordingly.
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance tasks on BESS, PCS, auxiliary systems and BMS to ensure maximum system uptime and long-term reliability
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, national regulations and industry standards. Apply LOTO procedures, participating in safety trainings, toolbox talks and capacity plannings.
- Manage the inventory of spares and consumables required for maintenance activities to ensure availability and minimize downtime. Develop inventory strategies to optimize site maintenance tasks.
- Prepare technical reports, maintenance logs, test results and intervention records. ensuring traceability of all the service activities.
- Coordinate when required with customers, suppliers and OEMs for firmware updates, warranty support and technical problem resolution, ensuring a high level of service and accountability.
Requirements:
• Technician or engineer in the areas of Electricity, Electronics, Electromechanics or related field
• Having at least 2-3 years of technical experience in the field for electrical related projects (substations, power lines or LV/MV cables). Experience with Energy Storage infrastructure (BESS) is a plus.
• Proficient in the use of electrical measurement tools (e.g. multimeters, power analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.)
• Good knowledge of PCS, EMS, BMS and SCADA systems, including common communication protocols (e.g. Modbus/TCP, CAN)
• Knowledge on MT Power systems and maintenance, Inverter PCS maintenance and electrical safety. Being certified on PCS maintenance works is a plus.
• Having strong safety orientation and commitment to teamwork.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, apply test protocols and use diagnostic tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in field conditions.
• Driving License (type B for Chilean light vehicles, or higher).
• Use of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Power Point).
• Proactive and autonomous, able to work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to have a professional conversation with English speakers in the field (Level B2 of English or higher); Having a certification on English proficiency is a plus.
• Availability to work and live in Taltal (Antofagasta Region) during at least 6 months. and relocate to Copiapó after that period.
